Point taken.Still, I wouldn't want to settle on a version of project-build-tasks over-specialized for, say, for C/C++ Makefile-based projects. The best way to do that is by implementing a flexible "run task" command.
M-x compile could use the API for its default value, but I don't think it should be the focus when adding the new feature.
