If it will not be available for Ubuntu 12.10, then I probably need to figure out a way to provide the new version for my MIDI training initiative.  If it were to come out with Ubuntu 12.10, I could simply re-package (dpkg-repack) that.  

The version of fluidsynth I built for testing has development libraries.  It is for i386.  I would also need to package it (or something generated differently) in a way that when the official version came out, that version would replace it.  

Do you have any ideas (or is there documentation on) what I would need to do to provide an interim version of fluidsynth that would be reasonable for my users to make use of?
