[ft-devel] ftdump filepath length limit (Re: A few more problematic font

The other fonts are as I described - ftview shows a funny look for the 3 fonts mentioned in the 2nd half; but the first issue is apparently a problem of ftdump with very long paths.

The actual message is this:

-----------------------
$ ./bin/ftdump /run/media/Hin-Tak/repaired2-homeba/sources-fonts/ftp-archive.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD-Archive/ports/distfiles/zh-wangttf/WCL-02.ttf
There is 1 face in this file.
FT_Stream_Open: could not open `/run/media/Hin-Tak/repaired2-homeba/sources-fonts/ftp-archive.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD-Archive/ports/distfiles/zh-wangttf/WCL-02.'
Could not open face.
  error = 0x0001
-----------------------

Note that the message has the file path truncated (at 128 characters, actually), and ftview is okay with the long path, but ftdump isn't. symlinking
the files to the local directory makes ftdump work.

I can't see quickly where the limit is set, but maybe you know where it is. ftview is okay with the long name, so it is a bit curious.

(The long path is a usb drive I have moved rarely-used or archive stuff to...).

Hi,

Here are a few more problematic fonts:

doesn't load:
http://ftp-archive.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD-Archive/ports/distfiles/zh-wangttf/WCL-02.ttf

(Earlier versions of this do, so it is a case of caullous modifications).

Three fonts which seems to only work correctly at specific sizes: (try ftview
and go up and down in size):

Shipped with Mac OS X:
  Library/Fonts/AppleMyungjo.ttf

These are reference fonts from the HK government:
http://www.ogcio.gov.hk/tc/business/tech_promotion/ccli/terms/doc/HKSCSIIC.TTF
http://www.ogcio.gov.hk/tc/business/tech_promotion/ccli/terms/doc/IICore.TTF

The last two don't really work correctly for every glyph even at the designed
sizes. Some glyphs look broken even at the designed sizes.

Probably bad hinting/bitmap for these 3, but since they are all "official" in
some way, it is probably quite certain that they work with some other font
rendering library than freetype.
