Hi,
I had a small round-table discussion about AFFS at ALUG today, full details
of which will be posted to their list and web site at some stage, but the
key ideas were:-
- About ten pounds pa is a very good price point. People are happy to see
it as a near-gift at that and would scale it up if they saw benefits. Of
course, we should invite more and offer discounts to students (and
jobseekers?), but as a headline figure, that looks like it will get mass
appeal.
- No-one cares much if company membership is missing at first.
- Clubs are generally forming as ltds or not forming. There have been many
rule changes making IPSes harder to form and more restricted. Rules need to
be carefully drafted, but a legal type knowing the field may have something
suitable already prepared. (No, this was in private discussions, not the
round table. Oh well. So sue me.)
- We should start taking memberships by early in the new year at the very
latest, if at all possible.
- We should fund some localised and localisation projects ourselves with
the money we get.
So, comments?
