I put a breakpoint there and all parameters look fine. The rate = 22050, 
channels=2, en is set (and if it were wrong, it would play garbage, as

But alsa is always the same and I am running a 3.x series kernel. 
Perhaps hardware dependent?

I found out something crazy: if I select (double click) a file in the 
playlist it will always give this error. even if I first play a 44khz 
then a 22khz file.
However if I play a 44Khz file and THEN a 22Khz file with the playlist 
swithcing to the next song (not double clikc) it will play at twice the 
speed, high pitch. Cool... :)
