Hi Alfred,

I am trying to do manually what pius is pretending to do:

gpg --no-tty --no-auto-check-trustdb --batch --no-armor --always-trust -r 531B6686 -e /tmp/pius_tmp/pius_tmp

That gives me:

gpg: can't open `/tmp//pius_tmp/pius_tmp': No such file or directory

My best explanantion is that pius is not showing all command line options that it uses.
I am using pius because it was recommended by other participants of the GHM 2014 keysigning party.

The overall goal is to sign the following key-IDs:

B7AB74D EE116C6D 26C5D286 48426C7E 8D89059F 765C61E3 C421CD8D 3D94797B 2DE827B3
8017E36A E7898C3B 531B6686 A5493553 4209AC98 49613020 EBBD25B4

with my own key-ID
531B6686.

and to send the expected result file to each participant.

If you just want to sign a file,

 $ gpg --clearsign FILE

Or for encryption,

$ gpg --output FILE.gpg --encrypt --recipient PEOPLE FILE

#2 after upgrading thunderbird to version 31.0 I could install the
enigmail add-on but HTML in emails didn't work anymore. Took al
while to figure that enigmail has disabled it. After that
thunderbird was asking for the gpg passphrase almost for every
email even though I told it t do that only every 600 minutes.

I would recommend gpg-agent, which is distributed with gpg, instead.
See

You might want to read both the GPG Privacy Guard manual
(https://www.gnupg.org/documentation/manuals/gnupg/) and the GNU
Privacy Guard Handbook (https://www.gnupg.org/gph/en/manual.html) in
solitude and try to understand how GPG works.
