I am currently (also) looking at (the simplistic method of) getting
snapshots out of our CVS history and constructing an arch repository
from them. The default tagging method is explicit.
One issue is that some files get deleted between checkpoint versions
and there is no reasonable support to deal with this situation. "tla
tree-lint" outputs USER-oriented stuff which cannot be parsed
straightforwardly.
For example; I get:
These explicit tags have no corresponding file:
...
It turns out to be quite difficult to automatically (1) register new
files and (2) deregister old and deleted files.
My only point here is that whatever higher level interface is built on
top of arch, it should deal with these issues a bit nore nicely than
is currently the case.
Cheers,
