I think this would be very useful to:
extract some cruft from the core
generalise the configuration management features
This is kind of neat, I've got libraries hosted at sourceforge that I
kind of have to keep in their CVS due to other developers. Being able
to pull from that tree could be useful for ``hybrid'' projects.
