I'm not sure that it's such a common occurance that it's even worth the
trouble -- in some sense it's better that people understand the underlying
mechanism so that they can handle whatever cases they actually encounter.

To tell the truth I have no idea why people keep asking about this; sure CVS
handles this case conveniently, but to be honest, it simply doesn't seem to
happen very often.
