Neat idea. Why thinner? Volta brackets are often *very* thin.

This could also be a zero tuplet bracket, if it had the zero. There is a
sort of elegance to using similar ways of indicating that notes played
at different times were written on the same beat, so to speak, and that
a group of notes unwritable vertically should be played on the same
beat. :-)

I hasten to agree that brackets are more versatile than those tiny
accidentals over notes that are found in books. This isn't for a
performing edition is it?

A left bracket is commonly used in German guitar publications (and not
by me) to indicate barring. The brackets would thus be more useful if
these particular left and right brackets and/or parentheses were
independent symbols rather than necessarily in pairs.
