I'd say that it is always wrong, since if the person won't use the
information she or he was given, then there is just no point in
sharing it to begin with...
There are a few good and legitimate reasons to look at a proprietary
software distribution. For instance,
1. To understand how a free program is a replacement for it.
2. To study it so as to develop better free software.
3. To use it so as to bootstrap its own free replacement.
