The name "GNU system distribution" is no good. It implies we have one
and only one system distribution, and this is it.
I am not going to make a premature commitment such as that.
Therefore, any name which suggests that is a no-no.
GSD as an abbreviation for "GNU system distribution" has the same
problem, plus the unfortunate resemblance to "BSD".
