I think it's OK to add this to the engine but the code should be turned
off by default. I think the right attitude is that these positions will
be handled by the owl code (and semeai module) when one day the owl code 
is an order of magnitude more reliable than it is currently.

I'm skeptical of the claim that you don't need defend5 but I haven't
thought through this carefully.
