That's odd, config.h.in is properly created here by autoheader, which is
run in autogen.sh. Maybe it's a bash/sh problem, or maybe there was an
error which you didn't mention before it got to configuring.

The autogen stuff is admittedly a bit obfuscated, because it uses an old
version of a standard gnome autogen script. We should probably avoid
this build-dependency on gnome2-dev stuff, but that doesn't really have
anything to do with your problem.
