hi guys,

joshua asked for an article.

this one is about using a game. i read it quickly the other day.

it seems to be in a much different area that we are...we are not really interested in appraisal actually happening in a person and
affecting their behavior, cognition attention. some call that
the hot cognition problem.

no, we are intereted in cold cogntion - much more tractable and much
less sexy. but sexy enough for moi! (-:.....specifically we
are interested in how a system can *think* about other agents
emotions.

so, this is not terribly relevant but might be fun to read.
OR maybe you will read it and see relevancy where i did not.

alas their program runs on dos.

Bill

Abstract: A pacman type video-game paradigm is introduced for the
manipulation of appraisals in an ongoing active-coping task. Differences
in current appraisal conceptions and their implications for experimental
approaches to the manipulation of appraisals are discussed. Furthermore,
the advantages of using concurrent physiological measures are outlined.
The features of the game aMAZE and a shell program called PLAYGAME are
described. The programs are available at no cost for researchers
interested in using the paradigm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
