| The CVS-versions of gnuplot (when compiled with the mouse option) support
| zooming with a mouse and show the coordinates of the mouse on the
| gnuplot window.
|
| One alternative plotting program I know of is grace and the Octave
| bindings by Jean-Marc Valin, which were posted to Octave sources in about
| 1999. The postscript output quality of grace is superior to gnuplot (IMHO)
| so it is worth checking out, though I remember having to tweak the Octave
| bindings a bit to get it working.
|
| And of course there's also pgplot.

And of course plplot_octave, http://merlin.inescn.pt/~qual/plplot_octave (or
http://www.fe.up.pt/~jcard/software/plplot_octave)
