Hi probably that's something I never thought of since I've always done this: please, try to run the configure script with this option --enable-maintainer-mode (see the --help: --enable-maintainer-mode enable make rules and dependencies not useful (and sometimes confusing) to the casual installer )probably this is the reason why 'make install' does not completely succeed for you...
