As far as I know from what I've read in the makefiles and buildscripts,
there is today almost nothing for translating the documentation. I'm
currently working on this, but I will certainly need help from Jan and
Han-Wen for some tricky details (like making ly snippets in translated
html docs).

I don't think so, except renaming input files of the user manual too
frequently. The infrastructure needed for translating the docs is mainly
made of makefiles and scripts, the original input files shouldn't need
to be modified.
