Have you read the tutorial, specifically section 2.13?  I recommend 
starting with an example from that page, and then replace the notes in 
the example with your own notes, test it, then replace the lyrics with 
your own lyrics.  This is a good way to approach any new notation in 
lilypond -- start from the examples in the manual, then slowly change 
them to fit your needs.

Try adding some bar line checks like this | .  You might have made a 
mistake in writing some of the rhythmics.  Alternately, try adding a 
bar or two of extra stuff ( c4 c c c ); it might be that your music is 
slightly too short for lilypond to place it on two lines.
