Dear Mats Bengtsson, I'm adressing to you since i found a post on a forum about lilypond-book. I really have no idea why, but somehow my posts to various forums on lilypond are blocked from the beginning and all respons i get when directly adressing to programmers is "please keep discussions online". If you don't have any time or don't know how to solve my problem, i can understand. Please reply saying you can't help so i know i don't have to wait for solutions from your side. I spent hours and hours (as in days) trying to get a first result with lilypond-book. I have lilypond version 2.6.4 (newest i can install via the recommended install procedure for windows on the lilypond site) and miktex 2.4 on windows XP.

Goto www.lilypond.org and click on Downloads to find packages for the latest stable version, 2.8.5. Where did you look? '

on http://www.lilypond.org/web/install/windows.nl.html

I followed the exact procedures. And as suggested i needed to re-install.
The enclosed test.ly file on the page gives a fine result in pdf.
Opening the test.ps file in GSview gives the error:

// begin error message:
DSC Warning at line 25:
 %%EOF

%%BeginFont: / %%EndFont
The number of Begin and End comments do not match
// end of error message

clicking "ok" two times gives my a very large list of other errors.

And i think that this is the essence of my my lilypond-book problem. So it doesn't has directly to do with lilypond-book, cause it just passes on the corrupt eps files.

When using lilypond-book under cygwin i get a result, but somehow only the lines of the lilypond environments show with all other symbols like note heads or clefs missing. It seems like all "musicfonts" are missing. Lilypond itself gives fine pdf-files but corrupt empty eps files. Since you've allready had your troubles using lilypond-book. Can you tell me what i have to do to get results with lilypond-book?

Are you sure that you followed all the instructions in Sect. "Invoking lilypond-book"?

When you have upgraded to version 2.8.5, see also http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-lilypond/2006-07/msg00051.html

   /Mats

now i've installed python via www.python.org on c:\python24 (standard)
included this folder in my PATH system variable.
under windows i had allready installed 2.8.5.

now... running lilypond-book under DOS command shell (twice) gives a .tex file that, when compiled, leaves the complete score out. (somehow in windows lilypond-book starts with shell output "GNU LilyPond 2.8.5" but lilypond itself "GNU LilyPond 2.6.4". running lilypond-book under cygwin gives a .tex file with still the same problem. A score whith stems but no note-head or clefs etc.

probably all my fault, but a ran out of clues what to check. I've passed on the .tex file and other files produced by lilypond-book to other friends to be texified, they have the same results.

If you want i can attache some error messages.

thanks a lot,

tiM
