Most of the fuss and feathers could be eliminated by
not allowing corporations to hold copyrights. The
U. S. government is not allowed copyrights, so why
should corporations be allowed them? They don't
create art, they merely exploit it. Authors today
become publishers also, to get a bigger piece of
the pie.
There is a new possibility, which is to allow the
uploading of your stuff to youtube and receive a
healthy cut of the advertising revenue clicks of viewers.
The players get nothing, of course.

Open software people tend to consider artists as being
equivalent to programmers, so they think artists
should starve. I have no sympathy with that view.
Obviously. Knowledge should be free, Yale to the
contrary. Art shouldn't be free until the artist gets his.
