[lmi] xsl-fo changes: testing results

From: Murphy, Kimberly

In testing the xsl-fo changes, the following format changes were
observed. While most may be non-trivial in nature, they do need to
be addressed. Unless a specific .xsl file is identified, the issue is
applicable to all .xsl files.

1) The scale unit (i.e., Values are shown in ...) on the illustration
has parenthesis around the text. While consistent on all xsl files,
our preference is to not have the parenthesis. Please remove.

2) Numerical values should be grouped in five-year blocks and groups
should not be split going page to page. Rick's email 'RE: Please commit
xsl-fo changes to HEAD' 2007-05-31 9:15 AM discussed this issue.

3) On the nasd.xsl, the heading 'Net Crediting Rate' is not centered
over
the columns 'Sep Acct' and 'Gen Acct'. This item was previously
discussed,
and a solution was proposed in Evgeniy's email, 'Re: [REVIEW] Topic
Created "XSLFO 12 Write generic templates for data-table header
generation."'
2007-06-04 7:42 PM. Please make this change.

4) Large values entered for the 'Master contract' and 'Policy number'
now
print less characters. For example, let's assume a user enters a 'Master

contract' of "00000111112222233333" and 'Policy number' of
"99999888887777766666".

The production pdf prints:
Master contract: 000001111122222... Policy number: 999998888877777...

With the new changes, it now prints:
Master contract: 000001111122... Policy number: 999998888877...

5) On an illustration_reg.xsl, when a lapse occurs, the Numeric Summary
has
notes that specify the year in which additional premium would be
required.
When more than one prints, an extra blank line is now appearing in
between.
Please remove the extra line.

For example, the production pdf prints:

Additional premium will be required in year 3 or contract ...
Additional premium will be required in year 3 or contract ...
Additional premium will be required in year 4 or contract ...

With the new changes, it now prints:

Additional premium will be required in year 3 or contract ...

Additional premium will be required in year 3 or contract ...

Additional premium will be required in year 4 or contract ...

6) On an individual_private_placement.xsl, the 'Current Values
Illustration'
page has an extra blank line in between each five-year block of values.
This
is the only page like this. Please remove the extra line.

7) On an illustration_reg.xsl, the individual illustration's
'Tabular Detail, continued' page contains four columns spaced
appropriately.
The same page for a composite however, only contains two columns, which
are
spaced out to fit that four-column block. Our preference is to have them

closer together, more left-aligned and less spaced apart.

8) There are several instances where wording is being squashed together.
It
appears lines and columns have been shifted up or down, left or right,
during
the refactoring. While most have faired our well in the process, there
are
some situations that appear quite tight and need attention. A few
noteworthy
examples are:
- On an illustration_reg.xsl, the last line of the Tabular Detail bumps
up too
  close to the footnote.
- On an individual_private_placement.xsl, the disclaimer is immediately
followed
by the heading without any space. This is observed on both the
individual and
  composite illustrations.
- On the "Cover Page", the company logo is too close to the company name
right
  below it.
- On an illustration_reg.xsl, on the Supplemental Report, when the
column
'Account Value Released on Death' is in the middle of the page, it
bumps
into the scale unit text when the header contains a Master contract
and/or
  Policy number.

To make things easier I can provide XML files, if needed, for any of the
above
issues.
