Why set it at all? Then the distro and user's default will be used.

I looked at the ltib.tar.gz files which the script installs, and the user&permissions are fine for the contents.

Hi Svein,

Different distros sometimes have odd (very restrictive) umasks that can cause problems. IMHO it's better to set it to a (sensible) known value so the results are predictable.

I think one distro was removing directory search permissions IIRC.
