only Americans write dates in that upsidedown fashion:
the internation standard is  yyyymmdd  or abbreviated  yymmdd .
we've discussed this before on lynx-dev at least once
& i thought we had agreed that Lynx should conform to international standards.
otherwise i have no comment.
