I can't see any files having the same ~10MB in common, to be honest.

This is rare, indeed, but if the test is cheap enough, then why not? It
could save you some bytes to download, but you don't lose anything, if
this test does nothing for you.


IMHO it's for fixing maybe corrupted files. If you download a file, where 2 bits were flipped, you get a different MD4, but most of the chunks are absolut identical.
