No, I don't propose that we have regular telephone meetings :-) and we
synchronize quite well as it is, but it would be nice to do it once to get to
know you guys. We could for instance discuss the upcoming 4.0 release.

network based solution?

Several Telecom Operators provide this service. You will give the
participants a telephone number to call with a certain code and the
time for the meeting. Of course software like "Netmeeting" and
derivates could also be used. Maybe that's even cooler?

But on the other hand the mail list works quite well so instead lets
wait with until and if we feel that such a meeting is needed. (Thomas
L. just left the project after I sent this suggestion, it's probably a
coincidence but I don't want to frighten off people :)

I don't speak english very well - i don't have much breaks for english conversation :( For me it is much better to communicate via text oriented channels which i understand without problems.

I will be very happy to know you guys too - probably conference call (net based?) will be good for it but in such case (even i'll be probably more passive due to language barriers).
