*Title: Empowering JWS Online with webservices: the strength of workflows in addressing Systems Biology questions*

JWS Online has been a service to the research community for a number of years, but was rather limited in its functionality as a research tool. To increase the strength of JWS Online, we have implemented a number of new functionalities, of which the most important one is web services. A combination of a number of systems biology research questions: 1) how to compare detailed kinetic models, 2) can flux control coefficients be predicted from thermodynamic principles, 3) how to relate the Monod constant tot the Km of the transporter of the growth limiting substrate, will be addressed using work flows and JWS Online.
