Hi Dave,

I’d ike to reprise my previous suggestion that myExperiment abstract the types of objects stored with specialist processing for each object being provided by addins: so workflows are just one type of object for which the myExperiment team writes the addin but customisers can provide their own addins (eg I could write one to handle Queries for astronomers). Further, the tabs for the myExperiment interface can be set to deal with one or more types of object so the current implementation of myexperiment.org would set its tabs to be Workflows, Packs and Files, the first two having addins written for them and the latter being a standard catch-all (and Spacebook might have Sources, Queries, Packs and Files, using custom addins for queries and sources, and the myExperiment addin for packs).

I think this will make myExperiment much more useful to outside developers and would position the product as the premier VRE baseline software.

Cheers,
Tony.

Hello myExperiment-discuss

We’re having a myExperiment team face to face on Friday when we’ll be identifying, prioritising and planning our myExperiment developments over the next few months.  We have input from a number of sources, but one of the most important ones is...*you* :-)

This is a great moment to let us know what you would like to see myExperiment doing.  If you’re not sure you’re up to date on where we are with things just now, take a look at http://wiki.myexperiment.org  – for example, you’ll see we’re building up our developer activity.

Please reply to this with your thoughts – whether about the web site, the software, the API, whatever – no ideas are too big or small!

If you can get things to me for Friday, we’ll discuss them then and I’ll report back next week.

Thanks everyone
