keypad() also sidesteps any problems with conflicts between escape
sequences, when the terminal is set up properly. Look at the comment
block in winio.c beginning with "Escape sequence compatibility:" (line
137 as of git 77bd8c2). Without keypad(), all those issues will also
show up. True, there may have been changes since then (I'll have to
read though ncurses' terminfo.src file to double-check), but removing
keypad() as a default is most likely going to fix some issues while
causing some new issues.
