Sorry to take so long to respond to stuff; had some important skiing to do.
This code is 12 or 13 years old now so my memory probably has some holes.

1.  I had thought that I had added the hook stuff to the documentation for
    mh_profile but I don't see it there.  I'd be happy to add it.  I have
    a general question which is on the correct place to add documentation
    for new features that don't warrant their own manual page.  Similar
    thing happened with attachments.

2.  As far as I know, this code works properly.  I use it dozens of times
    per day, and have been doing so for more than a decade.  That doesn't
    mean that there aren't bugs in it; I'm sure that some will be found
    with wider use.

3.  I might have missed slocal, probably because I don't use it and I'm
    guessing that it doesn't use the common sbr code that everything else
    uses.

4.  I'm not sure why whatnow/send/post should be in the list of affected
    commands.  Those don't invoke the hooks.

That's all that I can sort of remember at the moment as I'm still on the
first cup of coffee.  Be happy to try to find a few moments to fix things
as necessary unless Ken has already gotten to it.
