Follow-up Comment #56, bug #41699 (project octave):

The line that causes the segfault to occur is 

    formats(fidx).coder = coders{fidx, 1};

None of the other lines cause the segfault.

When the above line is commented out I do get a bunch of

warning: implicit conversion from matrix to sq_string
