Follow-up Comment #19, bug #44186 (project octave):

I had the same results as Rik:
I could compile ghostscript 9.10 with John's patch, but
the result ps file was buggy (attached as gs_910mxe.ps).
Using original ghostscript 9.10, I got a better result (gs_910win.ps), though
with a minor bug, 
(%BeginResource was written instead of %BeginResource) 
which was fixed

in version 9.14.

As Rik suggested, I think also that we should consider ver. 9.15

BTW, the new gs 9.10 solves bug 44185 <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?44185>.
