Follow-up Comment #6, bug #44882 (project octave): You might also want to check out previously reported bugs related to (long-standing known issues with) type conversion: bug #38821 is about inability to construct a Byte object from an Octave uint8 type. bug #39073 is about Octave converting a return value into a double when it should have stayed an Object of some type. I am also not very familiar with JNI, but I'll take a look at your patch if I get a chance.
