Follow-up Comment #40, bug #47372 (project octave):

I have now tested Rik's patch from comment #12 under Windows 7, this time
building mxe-octave with the current DEFAULT branch of Octave (not the stable
branch as before).

I did the very same tests as explained in my comment #16. The results are
now:

* A) test imread, clear all, test imread ==> no crash
* B) test imread, exit ==> no segfault
* C) playing around with some image processing scripts ==> no segfaults on
exit
* D) displaying an rgb uint8 image and clicking on it (bug #45372) ==> no
crash

So this patch DOES remove some long standing crash and segfault bugs under
Windows. And I haven't found any side effects under Windows so far.
