Follow-up Comment #20, bug #49609 (project octave):
I also hit this bug (4.2.0 installed from packages in Gentoo) on a KDE system
(KF5 with still some KDE4 elements present).
Moreover, I saw the same crash (exactly the same behavior) occur when using
Cantor, KDE's GUI for math applications. See
