Follow-up Comment #2, bug #50079 (project octave):

I was hoping that a simple example might show the problem.
The case that fails for me is within a set of scripts that 
generate a series of plots for a paper. I will try to extract 
a simple example, but this may not to possible right away.

I just notice that the current gl2ps on Fedora 25 (with latest
updates) is gl2ps.x86_64 1.3.9-2.fc24. Is may not be
the "latest."
