Follow-up Comment #49, bug #53046 (project octave):

OK it runs on Linux (cross-building now).

Ignoring the programming details for now, I can just say that it works and
adds more flexibility for displaying data which is always a big plus IMO.

What does not work (but no big deal) is dragging a tab outside the VE window,
then drag another tab out of the VE window and trying to add it ("dock it")
into the former dragged-out tab sub-pane.
Obviously that is asking too much :-)

I think with this latest patch enough functionality has been added.

BTW, in an earlier comment somewhere I said that not even Matlab can do this,
but I just tried and at least r2018a prerelease CAN.
Matlab has exactly the same limitation as I mentioned above as regards docking
dragged out panes into another dragged-out one, so yes we are fully
Matlab-compatible in that respect 8-)
