Follow-up Comment #5:

I can confirm the exact error message pop ups when Octave starts if I remove
the package libqt5sql5-sqlite from my system.

This package should be installed by default on most current Debian and Ubuntu
systems with the necessary Qt 5 packages for Octave, so this doesn't seem to
be an Octave bug.

Please install libqt5sql5-sqlite and the messages should go away.
