Follow-up Comment #9, bug #54762 (project octave): I tried to reproduce the test of Philip Nienhuis and got a *limit of exactly 550 vertices* using _octave-cli_ with _FLTK_ and _octaves opengl.dll_. Using _windows opengl.dll_ the limit is even lower at 491 vertices. The memory limit seems to be system (hardware?) dependent (I have Intel HD-Graphics 520).
