Follow-up Comment #15, bug #42490 (project octave): Actually, I see that the GUI's resource_manager already has what we need. resource_manager::icon(icon_name) returns a QIcon for a set of named icons (IIUC named according to the freedesktop naming scheme) and fallback to Tango icons if the current theme does not provide the named icon (such as on Windows).
