Follow-up Comment #19, bug #42490 (project octave): I attached a new patch in which I used the GUI's resource_manager to retrieve standard (at least on linux) "dialog-error", "dialog-information" and "dialog-warning" icons. If those are not present in the theme used by Qt (on MacOS and Windows I guess) the resource_manager should (I could not test myself) fallback to corresponding Tango icons which I added as png and svg.
