This may be right, but on a fast network the loop is not even
entered. On a slow network the time to draw even a simple plot is pretty long
compared to a few loop delays.  So, I doubt if the net delay seen by users
would change much.  I tried a few combinations of  max_iter and delay but
could not tell if they mattered (I have several computers on my DSL line so
timing is not precise).
