        RAR is available for Linux from the same site as the Windows versions.  
No fancy GUI but it works just fine (shareware, but you probably knew 
that).  For PAR files, I use "par", which is freeware.

        You can post right now.  Search on http://freshmeat.net for newspost -- 
it supports yEnc posting or traditional UUencoding, and will even 
generate SFV files if you want it to.  You can also find "par" on 
freshmeat; it's what I use to create and verify PAR files.  I think 
there's even a graphical front-end to newspost, but I've never used it.  
It'll probably turn up during your search.

        IMO, Pan should just utilize these tools that already exist, rather 
than 
doing all the posting stuff over again... but for those of us too 
impatient to wait, the tools are out there.  :)
