That could be it.  I'm running Mdk 9.2 Cooker, and libglib2.0_0-2.2.2-3mdk 
(glib 2.2.2 mdk release 3).  As I mentioned, however, toggling tabbed view in 
PAN gets them working here, after which they continue working, so I was more 
of the option it was something PAN didn't initialize at startup any more, but 
did when the display was toggled.  Maybe PAN didn't initialize it @ startup 
because with the old glib, it initialized itself @ startup..?
