Hi John,

I used fink to install the needed GNU software; places the binaries in
/sw/bin with the expected name (cp, date, ..), and updated the profile
to include /sw/bin in the path before /bin. IMO this patch is a
workaround for Apple's broken packaging, and shouldnt be necessary.

A lot of commercial Unices install the GNU tools with a g prefix so
that it is possible to have both in your path at once. It's actually
a really nice feature... I can have the convenience of the GNU versions
from my command line, but still write portable shell scripts that
don't inadvertantly depend on a GNU extension. No PATH fiddling
required.

For this reason, and because fink doesn't package gpg-agent or
quintuple-agent (among others), I much prefer darwin ports to fink.
I certainly don't want to have to install both!!

Cheers,
        Gary.
