[Rule-list] RULE and older/custom distros

Hello,

I have received personally, or seen in the list and in the several online 
forums about RULE, a lot of suggestions about full custom
existing solutions, like 2disk x2win, tinylinux, etc...

These suggestions belong mainly to two categories:

1) Don't waste your time, {product} already exists, just use it.
(I'll add a list of them to the web site)

2) Why don't we don't do  {something} like project X

Point 1) doesn't interest us (otherwise we wouldn't be here, right?)
for the reasons listed in the FAQ. We want modern, RH compatible software, 
possibility of additions/upgrades of standard RH packages,
and above all give to newbies without money the possibility to find the
largest possible base of binary packages, users of the same software,
specific documentation in their native language.

Yes, this means that we will probably never fit our stuff in 30
MB, but one can't have anything....

Point 2) is much more promising, but, I think, we should limit ourselves
to the application level.

Ignore special kernel configs, non standard directory structures, non
standard versions of basic utilities like find, grep, etc..... other compilers 
or system libraries.

Look instead to the *single* applications that these projects use.

If they run some unknown ppp-chat script/browser/window manager/news
 client.... that gives all the functionality in half the space, then by
all means submit it.

We will look for its RPM maintainer, or make an RPM ourselves if
needed.
That will guarantee full interoperability between what one installs via
RULE and any other rpm package added later.
