Greetings all,
        I've been lurking on the list for some time now, but I have finally had 
a 
chance to try miniconda, and I thought I would relate my experiences.  My 
impending move across the Atlantic (US -> France) means that I need to clean 
out the closet, so to speak, and so before I do, I want to find useful employ 
for some older equipment.
        This morning I tried to begin an install using miniconda on some older 
hardware.  Here is the basics of the system (more specific detail is 
available):
        Intel 80486DX2-66, 32MB RAM (2 banks of 4x4MB, 30pin, parity SIMMs)
        Western Digital Caviar 7540AV IDE drive (BIOS decides it is 528 MB => 
BIOS 
does not recognize more than 1024 cylinders of the drive)
        SMC Ultra EtherCard Elite Ultra ISA (model # 8216C)
        Adaptec 1522A ISA SCSI controller (w/ BIOS chip)
        Internal NEC Multispin 3X CD-ROM Reader (SCSI-1)
        External 2GB Fujitsu HDD
        PS/2 keyboard and mouse

The experience is this:
        Using minconda's -0.7.3, -0.7.35 or -0.7.4, and choosing "text" 
installation 
mode, the system boots, the kernel loads, and the ramdisk is found and 
loaded.  Installation begins, and it makes it just this far:

...
running /sbin/loader
install exited abnormally -- received signal 11
sending termination signals...done
sending kill signals...done
disabling swap...
unmounting filesystems...
        /proc done
        /dev/pts done
you may safely reboot your system

        When I use miniconda-0.7.2 and the driver disk to load the driver for 
the 
SCSI card (aha-152x) the installation proceeds merrily along without a hitch 
(so far - it is running right now as I write this).

        It should be noted that I started a RH6.2 installation previously, so 
the 
HDDs were already partitioned and formatted as follows:

/dev/hda1 linux (future boot partition)
/dev/hda2 linux swap (64MB)
/dev/hda5 linux (future root)

/dev/sda1 linux (future /usr)

        I am not (yet) a proficient coder or developer, but I can at least 
compile a 
custom kernel and other "mid-level" tasks, so I am willing to try whatever 
anyone would like to suggest to debug this, if it is of any importance.  For 
my purposes, this computer will be a low-end, internal-use only server, so 
RH7.2 is just fine.  But there is no rush, so I can take the time to try 
anything that you suggest.
