        Since the thing below prevented pserver to restart (I tried to 
bring the eth0 down & up in the hope it'll flush the condition but it
did not), I rebooted subversions.gnu.org.

        I'd be very interested to know how to get rid of this kind of trouble
without rebooting the whole system.

        pserver is now up and running again.
