Sorry for the long delay.  I finally got some time to look into it.
The header trail that traced where the mail was addressed was very
useful.  And the answer to why you are getting two emails is very
simple.  You are subscribed *twice* to the groff-commit mailing list! :-)

You have both your normal address there and an additional wl AT
vcs.savannah.gnu.org address also subscribed there.  Check out the
groff-commit subscriber list.  That is definitely the second one.  Any
idea why?  :-)

I can unsubscribe your second address.  Or you can do it too.  I left
it there so that it could jog the memory.  But that accounts for the
second email that you have been getting.
