Hi all,

Nagarjuna: thanks for the instructions, I have been able to follow them and import the already uploaded SCORM file (from another user). Importing took a long while but it is finally here:

http://beta.selfplatform.eu/SELF/lessonsview?ssid=7224

I think there's some work to do on linebreak issues there, but that's for the LM team, I suppose.

best,

Wouter

Dear all,

I just saw how empty our collections are and I decided I wanted to import a few more existing educational materials. Let me explain what I did so you get an insight in how some users think and we see where things need to be improved.

My mind was set on the "GNU/Linux Advanced administration" material from the UOC that we have translated into English.

Today bipin updated beta. Now, using the following procedure you can import the course again.
1. search in the file manager, say 'GNU or Linux', you will see the
scorm file. the result does not say that it is a scorm file. we will
add this soon.
2. next, select the resource and add to shelf. it seems what is added
to shelf also gets into the filemanager. I hope this happens only for
the files and not for the lessons and courses. 3. now that you have the scorm file in your shelf, you can select the item and import it.
Hope this works.

My conclusion from this little use case is that most parts work, although I suggest that two important things should be added:
1. a way to see ALL files added to the FileManager

all files added to the filemanager by the user, yes. but all files
added by all others I think should not be. so we have given the search function.
2. when the user wants to add an existing file to the FileManager, the error message should show the already existing file. And in case it is a SCORM file: put a link to the Course Object that has been created from it during import.

yes. this can be now added as a feature request and will be eventually implemented.
3. And now that we're at it: I suggest that users can sort the list of files on each of the various fields in the list (name, date, size, filetype, rating)

this is not yet implemneted, but we will get there soon.
4. the modified date field in the files list is a bit long ("2008/03/20 17:57:27.308 GMT+1"), don't you think? I guess date and time (in hours and minutes, no seconds nor miliseconds!) should be fine.

yes. Bipin/Rajiv, for the time being, can you prune the
seconds. later we can see which format should the date be displayed.
eventually we can add this as a user customizable preference

Nagarjuna
